When will accountability come?

I watched the Jeffrey Epstein survivors speak today at their press conference, and I can’t shake what I heard. Every woman said the same thing: they were silenced for too long. They carried a weight they never should have carried, and healing was impossible because no one listened, no one believed them.

Hearing their voices hit me hard. My own anxiety has been heavy the last few days, and I know part of it is because listening to survivors can trigger something deep. Yesterday I had to step back, use my tools, and remind myself: I am safe. This is my anxiety. This is how trauma resurfaces. But it also reminded me why voices like theirs matter so much.

Here is the truth. These women were abused as children. Powerful rich men with influence, and access harmed them. Then they worked to hide it. These men are not untouchable. They are abusers. They are pedophiles. They should be held accountable.

And yet, accountability has not come. That is enraging to anyone who has lived through abuse. Survivors are often shamed for not coming forward sooner, but people don’t ask why. Survivors don’t stay silent by choice. They stay silent because they are threatened, terrified, manipulated into believing they will never be believed. That silence is forced, not chosen.

Some of these women have carried this pain since 1991. More than 20 years of silence. More than 20 years of waiting to be heard. That is unacceptable. They deserve to speak. They deserve to be heard. They deserve justice.

This is not about politics. It does not matter if the names on the list are Democrat, Republican, or anyone else. If you harmed a child, if you destroyed a survivor’s life, you should pay the price. Period.

My hope is that these women, and every survivor still waiting for justice, find what they need to heal. That they can unpack their pain, reclaim their voices, and turn that pain into purpose. Their strength is undeniable. Their voices are powerful. They have been muted for far too long.
